Everyone is different. Some are moved to take to the streets, or call legislatures. Others make impassioned calls for change on social media, answering trolls posts thoughtfully and never miss a wink of sleep. Others are more sensitive and can't engage as much. That's ok. Personally my world continues to get smaller and smaller.
It began a decade ago when I realized that the news and its 24hr cycle existed to just get me riled up to keep watching. So I stopped. A couple years later I stopped watching local news, it was just fluff and way too much weather anyway. Over time I stopped reading news websites except for just a couple and technical sites (I work in tech.)
When the coronavirus hit I knew it wouldn't take much for it to consume me. I'm highly empathic and can feel the energy of those around me. So I would only check once per day what was going on. Eventually I stopped doing that. Honestly I haven't missed anything. Nothing new has really happened since March. Obviously the deaths are horrific but I mean there's nothing that has changed.
Now with the social unrest I informed myself then backed out. I'll hear about anything that changes.
I meditate daily, exercise daily and try to be an example for my kids and those I encounter. That's all I can do and it's ok. I donate money when I can and sign petitions.
You have to do what works for you. Your sanity and health are paramount.
