I swear I need to start keeping better notes. I'll learn something or make some sort of breakthrough, work it in, live it, then forget it. For instance my therapist has helped me by reminding me that in life every situation you have two boxes, box 1 is 'things I can do something about' and box 2, predictably, is 'things I can't do anything about' drop the item in the appropriate box and react accordingly.
To put it better. Things in the world, don't try to change them, change your perception of them. Obviously that doesn't mean you don't try to make positive change in the world. Rather it means don't let them give you anxiety, depression, despair etc. If I can't change the way my fellow Alabamians think, I don't let it bother me, I try to lead a positive, progressive life and lead by example. If they want to be illiterate and hate filled monsters that's their burden not mine.
